Pandemic Preparedness Plan
November 16, 2009
Dear Valued Customer,
We want our customers to be assured that White Electronic Designs is prepared to maintain business operations and deliverables in the event that predictions of a flu pandemic turn out to be correct. As you may know, some experts suggest that businesses should plan for up to 50% staff absenteeism in some scenarios.
White Electronic Designs maintains a Disaster Recovery Plan along with a Pandemic Preparedness Plan. The goal of both plans is to ensure that we can continue to meet our customer commitments in the event of a disaster, including a pandemic. Among other things, we have established a pandemic committee, which meets regularly to assess and monitor developments, and will administer a response and prioritize business activities if and as such actions become necessary.
We believe the key to success of such a Plan starts with an educated workforce. Our Pandemic Preparedness Plan was disseminated to our entire workforce in November 2009. The Plan contains specific guidance on avoiding infection. It also includes new travel guidelines and precautions for employees to take in public areas and in both on the job and off the job activities.
In addition, the Plan describes our methods for determining and prioritizing critical business functions and providing alternative working arrangements for those involved in performing those functions if necessary. Perhaps most importantly, we have established firm requirements regarding quarantine or employee stay-at-home in the event symptoms occur.
We believe our plan addresses the fundamental issues to allow us to continue operation in the event of a widespread pandemic. The plan is a working plan and will be modified as needed to help ensure our continued operations.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Gerald R. Dinkel
President & CEO
