WEDC introduces ZoneLoc™ Security for Data Storage Device

Data purge is automatically activated when device is removed from its defined zone

Phoenix, Arizona February 12, 2009 White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ: WEDC) recently announced its new technology for active security protection of stored data. With ZoneLoc™ technology, data is automatically purged from a specified data storage device when it is removed from its defined area. ZoneLoc provides a security solution scalable enough to be utilized across multiple NAND flash-based formats, including CompactFlash®(CF), USB, solid state device (SSD) or wherever an active form of protection is required for a solid state storage application.
A protection zone definition can include a proximity boundary and a pre-established set of parameters or features tailored to a particular application. The boundary can be tied to a fixed location or made to be portable for mobile applications.
The technology complies with the following sanitization specifications: NISPOM DoD 5220.22-M, NSA-130-2, Air Force AFSSI-5020, Army AR380-19, and Navy NAVSO P-5239-26. These are the standards that govern sanitization requirements by most agencies in the military market. This may be the smallest form factor of SSD ever developed that complies with these erasure standards.

ZoneLoc has configurable features and options, including audible warnings, programmable response times, wireless remote purging and sensitivity modes. By combining ZoneLoc with the latest encryption and/or physical protection technology, data protection is maximized. Because the protected device takes its own action, autonomously, security is guaranteed.
