White Electronic Designs’ Display Systems Division Releases Touch Screen Technology Primer
Focuses on Integration of Touch Technology for Outdoor Applications
Phoenix, Arizona – January 30, 2008 – White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC) today released a Touch Technology whitepaper that focuses on helping engineering and industrial designers make better decisions regarding the integration of touch technology in outdoor applications.
“With the current demand for more self-service applications, we hope that these recommendations and suggestions based on our years of experience will benefit all those involved in this market,” said Dave Slobodin, Vice President and General Manager Display Systems, White Electronic Designs. “It demonstrates our company’s mission to help provide options and solutions for design challenges involving LCD display systems.”
The touch screen is an increasingly popular interface for interacting with many electronic devices. Commodity touch screen panels generally are not acceptable for applications requiring greater optical performance, higher reliability or operation in harsh environments. Because the touch panel is typically the outer surface, it must be optimized to support the overall optical, environmental and performance requirements.
The whitepaper, entitled “Touch Technology Primer,” gives a brief overview of the different touch technologies available, as well as a matrix for helping design engineers select the best technology for their applications. A copy of the whitepaper can be obtained from the company website at
