WEDC Expands DDR2 SO-DIMM Densities for ATCA® and Embedded Applications
Phoenix, Ariz. – October 16, 2007 – White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC) has expanded its high-performance memory module family with the release of three new DDR2 2GB modules. In addition to the well-known, 64-bit wide SO-DIMM product family, White Electronic Designs (WEDC) also supports the 72-bit SO-CDIMM and SO-RDIMM.
These newest product configurations provide additional bits for error correction algorithms as well as address and command buffering. These features make the modules ideal solutions for systems developed in accordance with the new Advanced Telecommunications Architecture (ATCA®) standard as well as the many embedded computer applications WEDC serves within the high-performance computing market segment.
“Recent declines in the cost of the 1 Gb DDR2 components are making the 2GB modules a viable solution for boosting density in many socket-limited applications,” said Mark Downey, Director of Marketing, Commercial Microelectronics Division. “Our ability to provide all three form factors with no die or component stacking of any kind in addition to the cost decline of the 1 Gb component is allowing us to achieve the price point our customers and the marketplace needs to make the transition to higher densities.”
The products are available with data transfer rates of 400, 533 and 667 MT/s. The 72-bit wide configurations utilize a phase lock loop to fan-out the clocks and are available with or without registered address and control signals.
