WEDC Receives Class K Certification
Phoenix, AZ – August 9, 2007 – White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC), a prominent microelectronics manufacturer for defense applications, today announced it has achieved Class K certification, the highest reliability level prescribed by MIL-PRF-38534. Compliance to this standard allows the design and manufacture of microelectronic assemblies for mission-critical defense and space programs.
“WEDC is now one of only 16 organizations that’s achieved Class K certification,” said Dan Tarantine, Executive Vice President for White Electronic Designs Corporation (WEDC). “This certification confirms WEDC as the premier microelectronics solutions partner in constructing extended environment, high-reliability, high-density products.”
White Electronic Designs is a leading supplier of defense grade COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) semiconductor packaging, as well as advanced self-contained multi-chip and system-in-a-chip modules. The company’s hybrid microcircuits and advanced design modules are used in space flight hardware to minimize both size and weight. Its products are also used in missiles, avionics, ordnance, navigation and other military applications.
WEDC manufactures products in its 110,000-square-foot Phoenix, Arizona facility, maintaining MIL-PRF-38534 Class K and H and MIL-PRF-38535 certifications and ISO-9001 certification. MIL-PRF-38534 allows device manufacturers the flexibility of implementing the best commercial practices to the maximum extent possible while providing a product that meets military needs. Class K certification is awarded by the Defense Supply Center, Columbus (DSCC) after a rigorous audit to confirm compliance to highest quality levels required for space applications. Class H is standard military level in MIL-PRF-38534 specification. WEDC also maintains a Department of Defense (DoD) secure area, fully supports International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and maintains a Communications Security (COMSEC) account.
