WEDC Awarded More Than $4 Million in Military GPS Contracts

Phoenix, Ariz. – March 1, 2007 – White Electronic Designs Corporation recently announced that it has been awarded contracts worth $4.2 million for its manufacture of products used in multiple Global Positioning System (GPS) platforms.
“The products are used in a vast variety of military programs ranging from ground and airborne radios, guided munitions and precision strike missiles,” said Dan Tarantine, Executive Vice President of White Electronic Designs (WEDC). “When used in radios, it allows the command center to verify the exact location of the transmitting war fighter. As a guided munition or missile, target accuracy is extremely precise while minimizing collateral damage, as demonstrated in Iraq.”
The NAVSTAR GPS design allows a security architecture that includes tamper-resistant technology, which has been selected by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to implement the next generation security functions for GPS. The use of this security architecture significantly enhances the combatant commander’s ability to use precise positioning, velocity and time, in all environments. All new programs utilizing GPS technology will be required to use the NAVSTAR security architecture.
