WEDC Pursues Class K, Space Level Certification

Phoenix, AZ—October 11, 2006 —White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC), a leading supplier of defense grade COTS semiconductor packaging, today announced its intent to pursue MIL-PRF-38534 Class K certification.

Based in Phoenix, Arizona, WEDC currently manufactures products in its 110,000 sq. ft. facility maintaining MIL-PRF-38534 Class H and MIL-PRF-38535 certifications and ISO-9001 certification. Effective first quarter 2007, WEDC will be pursing MIL-PRF-38534 Class K certification. In addition to the H and K levels of capability, WEDC maintains a Department of Defense (DoD) secure area, fully supports International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and maintains a Communications Security (COMSEC) account.

Hybrid microcircuits and multi-chip modules are used in space flight hardware to save both size and weight. MIL-PRF-38534 allows device manufactures the flexibility of implementing the best commercial practices to the maximum extent possible while providing a product that meets military needs. Class K is the highest reliability level provided for in MIL-PRF-38534 and intended for space applications. Class H is standard military level in MIL-PRF-38534 specification.
