Munitions Guidance Technology
Precision-guided munitions are weapons intended to hit specific targets, and to minimize collateral damage. Munitions guidance is achieved through a global positioning system (GPS).
GPS has long been used in precision guidance kits for missiles, but now military GPS receivers are also being used in munitions as small as 105 millimeter artillery shells to help guide projectiles with pinpoint accuracy.
All new weapon platforms that utilize GPS technology are mandated by the DoD to utilize the secure technology that Microsemi provides. Microsemi provides the technology to protect against potential loss on the battlefield and enable foreign military sales.
