Our gearhead assemblies incorporate a wide range of gear types; including spur & anti-backlash spur, helical, bevel, worm, and external splines (involute).
Our precision gear train assemblies are manufactured from a variety or raw materials including stainless steel (300 and 400 series and 17-4 ph), brass, aluminum and aluminum bronze; with finishes including passivate, iridite and black oxide.
In-house machining capabilities include gear hobbing producing 200-to-14 pitch gears, and precision hole boring with diameter tolerances to 0.0002” and center distance tolerances to 0.0003”.
Precision ball bearings are used throughout, with rear bearing plates positively positioned for perfect bearing alignment. Housings are an integral part of the precision gearhead, designed for a lightweight, rigid construction. Our unique cluster design includes a gear and pinion hobbed from the same centers to provide greater concentricity and reduce total composite error.
Testing capabilities include the following:
- Backlash (lost motion)
- Perpendicularity (output shaft to mounting surface)
- Shaft run out, end play, and radial play
- Input starting torque.
